Laurel Wassner is a multi-time finisher (including three 3rd places) of the Philadelphia Triathlon. She has recorded podium finishes across all distances of triathlon, from sprint to Ironman. Laurel raced the Ironman World Championships in Kona in 2015 and 2016 and started off 2017 with a win at the Israman iron distance race in Israel. In addition, Laurel is a survivor of Hodgkin's Lymphoma and is the first cancer survivor to become a professional triathlete, qualify for Kona, and win an professional race. Laurel swam distance freestyle at The George Washington University. Although she resides in NYC and grew up in Maryland, Laurel considers Philly an adopted hometown race. When she is not swimming, biking and running, Laurel is a freelance photographer.
