Top Pro Triathletes Set to Race in Lake Geneva Escape Triathlon on September 23

Field of 30 Elite Pros Set to Compete for $20,000 Prize Purse


LAKE GENEVA, Wis. – (September 19, 2017) Premier Event Management, America’s preeminent multi-sport race director and organizer, today announced for the first time ever, an elite field of professional athletes are set to compete in the 2017 Lake Geneva Escape Triathlon, taking place on Saturday, September 23. Hot off their wins last weekend in Washington D.C., 2017 Nation’s Triathlon Champions Jason West and Sarah Haskins will lead a field of 30 professional triathletes competing for a $20,000 prize purse.


“I feel great going into the Lake Geneva Escape Triathlon, my fourth race in the Escape Triathlon Series,” said 2017 Nation’s Triathlon Winner Jason West. “Coming off a first place finish last weekend at Nation’s Triathlon, I’m hoping to carry that momentum with me to Wisconsin.”


The pros will join more than 1,000 triathletes young and old for this annual race. New this year, the Lake Geneva Escape Triathlon will serve as a qualifying race for the 2018 Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon. The top three Olympic finishers per age group will receive coveted entry slots into the iconic San Francisco race. First place finishers in each age group will also win a complimentary race entry.

Lake Geneva will host a challenging Olympic distance race featuring a beach start and 1,500-meter swim in Williams Bay; a 26-mile bike ride along the rolling hills of the lakeside village; and a memorable 6.2-mile run past the Yerkes Observatory to the finish line located in Edgewater Park. This iconic Wisconsin triathlon will host a fun-filled weekend of activities including Olympic, Sprint and Aquabike races and a Multi-Sport Expo.


The Escape Triathlon Series consists of the following races: Philadelphia Escape Triathlon – June 24-25, Des Moines Escape Triathlon – September 2-3, Nation’s Triathlon – September 10 and Lake Geneva Escape Triathlon – September 23. Each race serves as a qualifier for the 2018 Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon. A total prize purse of $160,000 will be awarded to race winners throughout the Escape Series.
