Philadelphia Escape Triathlon Olympic Distance Swim Is Officially Cancelled

As of 9 p.m. EDT, due to heavy rain this morning locally and north of the Schuylkill River, the extremely strong river flow and increased debris in the river, the Philadelphia Escape Triathlon Olympic distance triathlon’s swim portion of tomorrow’s race has been officially cancelled. The race will continue with a modified racecourse, dubbed a “dry tri," which will include a 2-mile run, 40k bike (24.8 miles) and 4-mile run starting and ending at Fairmount Park. The start time will remain 6:30 a.m.

Additionally, relay swimmers will run the first 2-mile run leg and Aquabike athletes will compete in a modified 2-mile run and 40k bike (24.8 miles).

Although the course is modified, awards, pro prize money and entries for the 2018 Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon will still be allocated.
